IAM Pass yesterday (Not an April Fool!)

Hi all, passed yesterday with all 1's and 2's (11 1's and 16 2's to be precise).

Thankfully the road conditions were better this time as we had to cancel a few weeks ago due to poor weather, that said, there was still ice and snow, rain plenty of cyclists and 'bike rider' caravans and tractors.

I can relax now.

Any questions ask away!

What next, was thinking of my RoSPA - try and go for gold also train to be an observer?

Congratulations :D

How did you find the test experience? Was it and the examiner in line with what you were expecting? Did the examiner pick up/contradict anything your observer taught you?

As mentioned above, AD-UK days, RoSPA, observing, etc are all worthwhile :D

Well done roganjosh! (one of my favourite meals).

Yes there is always more stuff to learn...remember ROSPA use the same 'bible' as the IAM (Roadcraft) so there shouldn't be any differences - just a case of a different Observer (ROSPA call them 'Tutors') so might be a differenct emphasis resulting from different experience. Observer or Tutor is definitely worth doing if you have the time and commitment...it's a great way of raising your own driving to the next level and keeping it there.

There's quite a few ADUK days coming up - would be great to see you at one of them and I'm sure you'd enjoy them and find them worthwhile.

> Really great, thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it I treated it like showing a total stranger what advanced driving has done for me, what it involves rather than think of putting on my best ever drive for an Examiner. It went really well, the examiner was an absolutely top bloke, we had some good laughs yet I managed to stay very focused.

Was it and the examiner in line with what you were expecting?
>Yes absolutely, he's what I expected firm but fair, nothing inappropriate very high standard

Did the examiner pick up/contradict anything your observer taught you?
> No, I've been lucky enough to have a good few observers around me, he was really happy- he said my left hand was a tad lazy and the 'planning to stop looking to go' felt a bit too much like I was planning to stop not go, but he said I'm about 1 second out with my planning and that it wasn't the end of the world.

As mentioned above, AD-UK days, RoSPA, observing, etc are all worthwhile :D
>Excellent will get along soon

Going by the ugly mugs I've seen on ADUK days, we must all be positively blind then

Or were you getting at something else...

Barmy lot, yes the 'better you look more you see' quote refers more to driving and looking for things not just seeing them ha
