Have a look at:

You must tell DVLA if you have a limb disability.

That will trigger a process which hopefully will enable you to notify the insurance company that you have a notifiable condition, that the DVLA have been notified and (if it proves to be the case) there are no restrictions placed by them.

Conditions which are not expected to last for more than 3 months are exempt from notification. (Source: Road Traffic Act 1988 Section 94(2)(b))

I have not been driving with the cast. This means adding roughly an extra hour and a half to my daily commute on public transport and extra cost. I am missing the freedom to just go anywhere at anytime.

The plus side is being able to spend a good chunk of time on the commute reading. After each journey I feel in a better mood than if I had been driving.

I am not missing the unpleasant commute around the A1 western bypass.

Funny... In the working week, I find driving the daily commute about the most relaxing part.
