I met Joe Cocker many years ago, whilst doing a photographic assignment of him in concert for a newspaper, just after he made the big time with his Grease Band . I was very surprised at how different he was in person from his stage persona.

Quite a time I would think. Bigger or smaller in person... Or just different?
I'm guessing that on and off stage quite a lot of people are different beings. I suspect that they are more extrovert personalities on stage. I've seen it in extreemis in some amateurs. Comedians are notorious depressives (v broad term I know) away from the maddening crowd.

So, did you come back to it?
Best not listened to on a computer, unless a good soundcard or DAC out to a reasonable HiFi system.
Or, on vinyl, CD or via lossless streaming.
It's one of life's joys, possibly the supreme example of the composer's and librettist's art.
I'm not religious but listening to this piece never fails to take me through an emotional rollercoaster ride.
