Great to see Top Gear back on TV tonight and what an excellent, if cringe-making piece of telly the Hammond crash was. We all knew what was going to happen but to see Richard describing the build up and listen to his unfortunate comments immediately before the crash was both horrible and funny at the sametime.

He's looking very thin and he's very brave to continue with something that almost killed him. I thought it was very telling when after the 2nd run, he said the adreneline made him fell sooo alive...

The Vampire jet car has made countless safe runs at Santa Pod drag race track...if it's the same one I remember watching it 20 years ago - although I don't remember it having an afterburner then.

Long-Live Top Gear.

...to see TG back. I'm glad they didn't try and ban it or whatever silly nonsense. It's great to see Hammond looking so well too.

Long Live Top Gear indeed

I think the biggest problem with the footage was that you couldn't really appreciate just how fast he was going at the time. Good balance of sympathy and humour too :D
