I'm new to this forum and always intrigued by the above stat. Can any regulars advise what topic drew such a crowd?

Actually I've no idea, sorry, and I don't even know how you obtain the information about 520 being on line.

Spiders / Bots - automated systems spidering the site, probably all hit at once, it's unusual but it can happen.
