Peeps might be interested to hear the executive director of the Parliamentary Advisory Council on Transport Safety (PACTS): Robert Gifford talking on Radio 4's 'Today' program this morning.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/console/b00qzgyyJump to about
54:30 into the program to hear him talking.
He said some encouraging things but he also mentioned
'...the need to do more to reduce speed...on rural roads...'. Aaaarrrggh (that's my 'Aaaarrrggh' not his!)
Have a listen and do as he suggested, email him with your reasoned thoughts...
