After seeing the video from the Bristol taster day recently I knew I had to get one. Attached it to my honest the only way I really know is secure  and went out for a drive. Here's a clip of me having a little fun, all within the limits of the law and where safe to do so etc. :) And yes, I saw the megane creeping out in early part and was ready. :D

The pictures are good quality - do you mind me asking what it is and where you got it? How good is the sound quality - would it happily pick up a commentary if cockpit mounted?!

Nice one 'devon'...love your expensive gyro-stablised high quality camera mount!

Amazing quality - what a bargain.

In my experience, the only thing which will pick up commentary in the cockpit is a headset microphone. But the Hong Kong special might prove me wrong.

I also have a HK special and was surprised at how good it was. The biggest problem was finding a decent mounting point and I think Jase may have cracked that for me ;) Tried it out with a friend driving (clipped to the passenger sun visor) and it picked up all the conversation in the car which was quite surprising. Not crystal clear or broadcast quality, but you could clearly hear and follow the conversation.

YMMV :D

I've heard suggestion (*cough*advice*cough*) that setting the time & date may not be wise should you inadvertantly record yourself making a mistake, say with a speed limit, in a video which is posted on-line . . . ;)

Who would post a video online of bending speed limits?

If mounted inside I am sure this would pick up commentary. :) Just not sure how clear it would be. I reckon if adapted to hang down from the rearview mirror it would be close enough to the driver to pick up a clear conversation.

It came from Ebay for about £10 and the 8GB micro SD card was about the same. :)

I have a pair of video camera sunglasses which I believe use the same insides as one of these cameras, and I must say it's impressive for £12!

Just beware of the gadget shops over here selling these and the "mini DV" cameras for £50-£100...
