It's strange how the more often these things have "not a joke" in, the more often they are false:

I have never heard of this before however it wouldn't surprise me. Sounds similar to what we read about with gangs in America faking a collision so that they can steal your car. All sounds very worrying.

Hi and Welcome! :D

No you miss the point...it's not real but one of the many hoax warnings of doom and gloom...it has no basis of fact and whizzes round the net every so often.

I hope you are right, but how can we be sure? Answer: we can't.

i've no wish to get too alarmed by this sort of story, but all the same a degree of wariness might be in order.

On a lighter note - a welcome to DSN.

Thinks: I wonder if he does cheap refresher lessons for aged and difficult pupils of limited means?

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Come down to Plymouth for a weekend, I'll happily do cheap refresher lessons for aged and difficult pupils of limited means. It gets a little lonely at times, I'd be glad of the company! :-)

Thanks, that's a nice thought, Nigel; but I don't think you realise what you might be letting yourself in for.

It's better to be safe than sorry. The sad thing is when a real person needs real help, nobody would help him!

But it's still a good thing to keep in mind. If it "whizzes" around the net every so often... then criminals would have gotten wind of it and just might actually use it for real. It happens. Just because it's listed as false in snopes, doesn't mean that it can't happen in real life.

If everyone had the attitude, as you're suggesting, of "It's better to be safe than sorry" then no-one will stop. I rather hope I would stop to help!
