For me it is an E Type upgraded to modern standards - trouble is, then they cost as much as a modern Aston, so I'll just take the modern car, thanks all the same.

True, but if you bought the upgraded E-type it would still be worth a new Aston in 10 years, where the 10 year old Aston wouldn't be worth the cost of a classic Mini.....
