I am genuinely blushing, so stop it

I am not putting anything on here that can identify me to the great fat cabbage (I'm safe with text, he has difficulty reading, but he always manages the pictures...need I say more). However, let me say that I'm a size 10 (but only if I shop at M&S), 5' 8" (in the 2" heesl) and I've been told I look a little like Meg Ryan (but only a very very very very little).

Now back to the driving.

Re the original post, there was a good write up for the Advanced roadcraft DVD on the IAM website (members forum).

Following my earlier recommendation of Bespoke Driver Training's excellent "Commentary Driving" DVD I have now viewed their latest "Advanced Roadcraft".

Again of consistently high "broadcast quality" picture and clear diction throughout from Mark Kendrick, a former police driving instructor, this has a total running time of 68 minutes in chapters on pre-drive checks, city driving, overtaking, cornering, offsiding(!), scanning, (including what I consider to be the "jewel in the crown" of advanced driving - reading the limit point), motorways, at night, and a brief demonstration of crash avoidance using ABS.

The only problem I found was the balance of "background music" but this does not detract from the value of the production.

Both DVDs are highly recommended for all drivers and particularly observers.

I know... but in all honesty its worth looking at DVD quality on the television

My Roadcraft DVD arrived yesterday, and I feared it was going to be a bit, well, lame, but no, I was quite impressed.

Ok, it may look a bit dated, and not have the DVD quality you might expect, but it does exactly as you would expect. By following the police drivers from normal licence holders to response drivers you see their learning curve as your own, making it more a "this is how you learn and improve", not just "this is how it's done".

Each bit of the book is demonstrated: car control, cornering, brake gear/separation etc.

The advantage is the bits you can't always get from a regular demo or associate drive; the slow motion and freeze frame hazard analysis allows time for something to be explained, the helicopter shots demonstrate position very well, and the overtaking shown is rather good. Commentary runs throughout.

It's probably time it was remade properly for DVD, but they probably can't find roads as empty or free from 40mph limits as they were "in those days".
