Not that i'm superstitious or anything... but. The poor old Volvo got a right smacking last night :( I'm hoping that the other party will stick to her admission of fault and i can get something for my car. Basically i was approaching a 90 degree right hander just a mile from my house, all nice and steady and on my side of the road... when out of the fog comes a set of headlights at mach 2! My side of the road and totally out of control.. so methinks the best and only possible plan to avoid a head onner is to swerver to her inside. Great plan.. until... she decides to hit the oppositte kerb, bounce back into my path and promptly hit me o/s to o/s. Just off to pick my motor up now.. will post some pics later!

At least no one was hurt!

Oh hell, I'm sorry to hear that, Rick. Wrong place, wrong time etc. Not much you could do to escape that one from the sound of it.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Here is the corner...

The car which hit me was approaching the corner down this straight.. overshot onto my side..

i was coming from the opposite direction, she hit me about 10 metres from the corner and we ended up in the house wall... luckily no damage to the house or injuries. Just 2 written off cars and some swearing.

Is it really a write off? I would have thought that looked repairable, but is the car not of sufficiently high (monetary) value to justify it? I can't remember what age it is.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Sorry to hear about the crash. Just hope everyone was uninjured.

As you say, hopefully she will admit guilt to her insurance company. The straight on the road does look tempting, is that normally a road people drive hard?

The chassis looks straight on the Volvo, You thinking of repairing or getting a new car?

Well the car is only worth about £1200 i think.

The corner catches lots of people out when it is dark, and it is not very well signed. She was not local and was only on that road as she had been diverted due to road works, and there was also patchy fog. Locals tend to drive it quite hard, and non locals tend to end up in the field!

That's heartbreaking. Glad you're OK though.

That's what I thought Chris. I'm not sure what i'm going to go for next. Probably something a bit boring for a while, until I get moved. I'm gutted really though as I only got 12 months MOT on it a week ago. I can feel a lot of EBAY activity coming on!

Sounds like it would fit the category of dangerous driving to me.

isn't the benchmark of that endangering the life of other road users?
