A list of fun roads

I spotted this in Top Gear mag this week;

A select of the best roads according to them..

http://www.topgear.com/content/timetoburn/sections/galleries/other/around_the_world_in_80_drives/01/

I think this would be such an ace topic to compile a list of fun drives in the UK - an ADUK map of the UK type thing :-)

I drove a road know as Fangdale Beck on a driving course I think the road is the B1257 very technically demanding to drive well (although it was at speed with exemptions).

Another one used on driving courses both Standard and Advanced is the A1133 between Newark and Newton on Trent on the Notts and Lincs Boarder.

Check out Top Gears no2 road. http://www.topgear.com/content/timetoburn/sections/galleries/other/around_the_world_in_80_drives/02/

Here's a link to it on Google maps.

Its the small yellow road labeled "Glen Fruin Road".

What a fantastic road, i get to drive it with work once or twice a month. It links the main A82 Loch Lomond road with the Faslane and Coulport submarine bases. It was built in the 80's and was up until about 15 years ago a private MOD road. It actually continues on down to Coulport. Well worth a visit. Top gear filmed on this road about 4 years ago testing Subaru's and Evo's.

Worth a visit. (As are all the roads in the West Highlands)

I was in that area yeaterday, as I was working at Lochgoilhead. Unfortunately, a passenger, a long day and a 1.3CDTi Corsa were not condusive to a detour :(

Well - I've started putting together a list of these but currently struggling for what info to include..

I've currently got a couple of snaps, a map, and where it goes to & from... any ideas what else I could include?

Any requests? :)

Good pubs and greasy spoons?

Surely the net effect of advertising good roads will stop them from being good?

All the best roads are in the south east and definitely not in Yorkshire :D
