The problem with that in my opinion is that the unit is drawing your attention to the harsh maneouvre you made, not the thing which caused you to do that in the first place.

And for some people they won't understand what they've done to cause it to get upset, or will be blaming others around them for causing them to <brake sharply etc>. And that's before we get onto those who may deliberately try to keep it in the red as much as possible.

Surprised at the claims of improved safety - would think it could be damagingly distracting, and that the machine's idea of bad driving would not necessarily be ours. What is wrong with accelerating out of a turn??
