I think you may find that there is some obscure legislation somewhere that says your number plate must display either the name or postcode of it's manufacturer. It's not just free advertising......

If the EU flag offends you or even if you just prefer, you can replace it with the St George's (or other UK one).

FYI

It is just the postcode that has to remain visible, I think. It also only applies if the number plate was made on or after the date that the rules were implemented (I forget when).

The British Standard requires that a number plate must be marked with the following information: -
* The British Standard Number (currently BS AU 145d)
* The name, trade mark, or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier. (The company who actually make the number plate.)
* The name and postcode of the supplying outlet. (The 'supplying outlet' is taken to mean a company whose business consists wholly or partly of selling number plates.)
* A non-reflective border and the Euro-symbol with the national identification letters are optional additions.
* There shall be no other markings or material contained on the number plate.

So what you going to do if you get the fine in GB ?
Not going to pay it ?
Going to tell the court to stick it ?
Going to ignore it until the bailiffs come & tow your car ?

As I said

It is awfully tiresome though when some folk keep beefing about problems that others don't feel concerned about. :P

Best wishes all,

No doubt he has also removed the dealers sticker out of the rear window, the car manufactures name and logo off the vehicle, and hopefully, given that his vehicle will no longer be legal, the IAM and ADUK stickers as well...
