On a scale of 1 to 10 , 1 being an L test pass standard with 10 being the very best, where are you? :D

Are we talking about track or road driving? And what's "best"? Smoothest? Safest? Quickest?

Is this the same as the scale used in the book MIND DRIVING ?

10 Micheal Schumaker
- if this is the top one then I assume it's to do with race circuit driving !!!

Sod over thinking it, I think I'm a 4.

For the record, I would suggest a 1 is above average, as the average motorist certainly wouldn't pass an L test!

EDIT - It seems I pressed 5 because I'm a noob.

So you barge other motorists off the road at a whim, try to be first to your destination at all costs and have the rules changed to suit your actions whenever you like?

I can think of people I've driven with who I aspire to drive like, but they might be embarrassed to be named on here.

After 50 years I learn something new on every drive. As I'm still learning does that make me a 1 :?:

you could try putting our Stefan up near the top - if I could be as silky as him every time I drove I think I'd die a happy death. as for me.....give me a 5 when no-one else is watching and a 1 when they are ;-)

Since the 'lowest' mentioned is L driver I would assume we are talking road driving here. I have never heard anything about Michael Schumaker's driving ability so I wouldn't put him at teh top of the tree. he's a good race track driver I agree but there is a huge difference between driving on the road and the track! I certainly wouldn't look up to him for road driving!

I remember hearing a story (it may have been on here) about Stirling Moss & his wife (Pat?) going out with the, then, chief driving examiner with teh IAM and teh report saying that Stirling Moss scared the hell out of the examiner whereas Stirling's wife Pat was teh better road driver!

Just because someone is good on teh track doesn't mean they will be good on teh road - huge difference in observational skills required!

I would like to think I am around the 6/7 mark! (For road that is, for track I would probably be around the 1/2 mark!

Having watched, many years ago, Stirling drive through London traffic my impression was how well he was able to maintain progress through the use of remarkable vision and to see opportunities that most would not even have dreamed of. However, I also felt that at times he expected others to have the vision and abilities to match his own. I am probably wrong in this assumption as I do not have his skills, but that was my impression.

I think it was his sister Pat that he was being compared with. She was a very good rally driver and had a reputation of being just as good as a road driver.
