Grumpy bus driver is not exactly news I suppose (apologies to the bus drivers here) but this morning I was travelling past a school with a compulsory 20 limit and traffic calming. I approached a chicane at 20 and a bus driver waiting the other way (I had priority) made an angry face at me and gesticulated to 'get on with it'.

Let me see now...we were passing a school at just gone 9am in a 20 limit and I was doing 20...what did I do wrong?

I did actually consider this but there were drivers behind that wouldn't have been too pleased.

Nothing, if you've given us a fair description of the situation. You merely had the misfortune to meet an asshole, or perhaps somebody who was already having a frustrating day and was feeling a bit touchy - like wot I get sometimes: witness the topic in which the matter of cutting RH bends arises. ;)

Gee, wouldn't it be nice if everybody was all full of sweetness and light, like I very occasionally am?

Best wishes all,
Dave.

Don't give me ideas! I don't normally work on that basis, but I could learn. ;)

Best wishes all,

Ah, but you forgot the misquoted Highway Code rule 223, or at least it is around here.

Rule 223 reads. Buses, coaches and trams. Give way to these vehicles when you can do so safely, aspecialy when they signal to pull away from stops. look out for people getting off a bus or tram and crossing the road. The buses around here have, Let buses pull out. Highway Code rule 223, posted on the rear. It would appear that some bus drivers go by the shortened version of this rule, judging by the way some pull out when drivers are already passing them, whilst others wait untill a driver backs off and lets them out.

By my understanding, this was at a 'traffic calming' 'pinch point' ?

In that case there would have been some signs around dictating who should give way ?

In this case, the bus is meant to have been giving way, whilst the driver is meant to be giving way...so who had right of way?
