An event for young drivers in Derby is being organised, their will be a driver challenge which will involve scoring a goal with your car, skid car challenge, best car competition, trade stands, including food & more.

One of the highlights will be simulated accidents taking place with the aid of the emergency services, volunteers will be required to be cut from vehicles. Full blues and two's - fancy an acting career :?: or just be covered in blood and bandages :!:

 The event will take place between 10.00am & 4.00pm at Dunstall Park Road, Off Ascot Drive, Allenton, Derby (near the fire station)

Young drivers from across the borders in Nottingham & Staffordshire (Burton-on-Trent) are also invited

I'll update this post as more is confirmed

Sounds really good for the young 'uns.

What's your involvement?

Excellent - hope you inspire and recruit loads. With my involvement on a local young driver project I would say don't underestimate the effect of a good demonstration drive to a young driver...it dispels some myths and shows there is more to learn to people that sometimes think there isn't.

Rob,

Good to see you at the event meeting this morning. It seems like everything will be all set for a good day.

As you know the Derby Group of the Institute of Advanced Motorists will be there to lend assistance. Sunday 27th is our usual observed run day and we have a number of under 25s taking advantage of the current training offers. I will plan to bring some of them down to have a go on the skid pan and driving challenge.

We will also be there to advise on training for the IAM test. It has been very popular recently but we are still looking for recruits!

I was going to attach the flyer that Simon has sent out, there does not seem to be a way to do that on this forum.
