IAM Membership Fee revisited

Back in July 2009 there was a thread:

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1952

I thought the fee had increased to £28 for DD payment. That's what I paid last year.

This year it's gone up to £28.50

When did that happen?

It was agreed at the last AGM. Leaving it the same for such a long time meant the last increase was a big (and controversial) jump, so they decided that regular small increases are the way forward.

I'll let you know when the £20 annual RoADAR fee goes up (the one that pays for our 3 yearly retests, that is) :D :P

It hasn't done so for several years now.

Thanks - missed that one.
20.7% increase in 2005, 60% in 2009, 1.8% in 2010.

And the groups expand - Merseyside started recently and I'm off to a meeting about a North Wales & Cheshire Group.

Which reminds me I've got a retest soonish - better not let Chris down!

I'm hearing comments regarding the price difference between IAM and Rospa a lot.

Irrespective of being an IAM member, Ropsa does look better value for money and has the challenge of a graded pass.

And the challenge of resitting your test every 3 years to prove you've maintained (or improved) your standard.

If only RoSPA membership gave us the same insurance discount that we get with the Surety scheme.....

I agree. The trouble is that RoSPA members are much fewer in number and hence don't provide an attractive target for any insurance company. On the other hand, I DO get 25% discount on my premium for being a RoSPA Gold holder (bit of a specialised policy though ;))

As far as some sort of graded IAM test goes, things may change sooner than you might think.

An IAM member can take an IAM assessment with an examiner when ever they want. (I accept that they have to pay which is unfortunate.)
