Have you tried turning it off and on again? (The car)

Sort should of said. I'm planning on replacing the rear pads. When doing so I'll need to reset the EPB for the new piston position.

Thanks

Well I'm lost... My first post was kinda sarchastic, IT Crowd style.

Newest car I've ever owned is an '89 - thank-fully no electronics (well, almost).

Does the manual og Google not help?

Based on the electronic parking brake on my Renault, the procedure is to ensure that the brake is released before starting work (put keycard in slot, press & hold start button for 5 seconds OR use the manual release that's hidden in the boot)

Once the pads are replaced, it calibrates the tension (or whatever) next time the engine is started, just as it adjusts it as the pads wear.

Thanks for the replies. I have checked/joined the XFforum and one guy has listed some instructions however no one elses seems to confirm or deny it works :( So just double checking if anyone else has info. Have "googled" it however only seem to find info for the old S type.

From what I've read on the XF forum the EPB doesn't reset itself after "reboot" Failing to reset will result in the pads not being fully release. Seeing they only last 19k miles due to design I don't fancy them wearing out even quicker lol

Well, on the positive side you've only increased my desire to hold on to my "old" car and never, ever get anything modern.

Good luck with it

Can you wait until Monday. I will ask some of the engineers who help build them?

That will probably get you 3 different answers, none of which actually help the o/p
