Hi,
I have been passing this sign for a few months now. Every day I have been expecting to
turn the corner and see it facing the correct way. No chance.

Well today I decided to stop and spin it back round myself. Unfortunately
I couldn't budge it. I thought about giving a it few taps with a hammer but
decided against it. With my luck someone would have reported me for vandalising the sign.

How many Police cars and council/road department employees etc have passed
this sign during this period, not to mention the rest of us.
I admit I have not reported it either but it has amazed me it's been pointing
the wrong way for so long. The road is NSL and the sign warns ( or should warn)
of a 90 degree bend to the left.
I'll contact someone at the council - but I don't know who yet.

How would/should you handle this situation in commentary ?

Since good road signing, (all too rare these days), is telling you about the hazard you can't yet see, I would expect that beyond the clearly obvious right hand bend ahead, there is a more severe left hand bend. If it is not more severe, then I would expect, for whatever reason, it is a bend that tends to catch people out.
there is only the road, nothing but the road ...

Yes it may of course have been turned around (particularly with the SLOW in the road beside it) but where ever you see a "bend left" warning approaching a "bend right" it should ring alarm bells (as Gareth has said) & not be assumed to be wrong. Always think worst case scenario.
Any views expressed are mine & mine alone.

I should have given some more information.

I know this road well as it's on my way to work. The sign should be facing
the other way. The right hand bend you can see in the pics leads to a
straight road. The left hand bend is behind where I took the pics. So
instead of being warned of the bend you see the back of the sign and going
the other way you are warned of a left hand bend when you are going into
a right hander. I did try to turn it back but...

I just thought at night especially, with a stranger to this road and 60mph
allowed it could be quite dangerous.

Andy.

Sounds like one to report to La / Ha depending on whose road it is. If there is an accident there and they are shown not to have made reasonable efforts to maintained signage (and that would be clear if it were reported), then that won't be good for them.

My guess is you'll see it corrected shortly after it is reported.

If you cant budge it...stick a bin bag over it, at least nobody will get the wrong dangerous info and hopefully be guided by the hazard warning lines.... :?
