Buy a new car, or get the current repaired?

Worked out today the Vectra needs about £600 worth of work (not including the nice scratch).

New stainless steel backbox (Irmsher)
New brake discs all round
Cambelt change on next service

The car is worth about £1,000 and got 114,000 miles on it.

Opinions, worth getting the work done or just buy a new car?

Darren

Yes, something that does not lend itself to being fitted with gadgets so that you're monitored by the busybodies on every journey. I keep hearing blood curdling stories about how we are to be checked up on every time we drive anywhere.

Is the motoring community really going to accept all this intrusion. I sincerely hope not, but our previous track record is not good.

Sorry Darren, I've wandered off into a mini rant, but I expect you know how I feel about this sort of thing.

Best wishes all,
Dave.

I`d get rid Darren, if you do the repairs in order to get your money`s worth you`ll need to keep the car alot longer in which time there could be several other repairs need doing and then you`re back to square one.

I made the mistake with my old Escort RS Turbo, please don`t get into this viscious circle and do the right thing.........dispose.
