So is the question now 'why would I want a GPS synchronised reference point on googlemaps, which matches the time-stamped video?'
If your answer to this question is 'I don't', you don't want a 'dashcam' camera. If your answer to this is 'because I can see how it could be useful as a learning tool', pick one which suits your needs. Recording the forward facing part of a drive is limited to around 120 degrees of view for many of these cameras but it's still a lot better than trying to recall every little thing from memory.
At least that's how I reached the conclusion to buy mine.
