What do you make of this road marking? It is a one-way street away from the viewer - up the hill.

It's a traffic light stop line left over from before the street was made into a one-way?

Do I get a prize?

It is too far forwards - and would have been beyond any primary signal head which is a major no-no (as the driver would not be able to see the signal, not to mention being past the pedestrian crossing.

I am not sure what the contractor was thinking of, perhaps it was a coffee run mark on his site plan?

1. Horse's waste of paint...
Or... Possibly...
2. Safety line of some kind for a the pedestrian crossing... Line in the Tarmac sand...
Or
Quiz question for your club night...

Confused contractor. Or local authority using up paint at the end of the financial year.

A third stop line for the RLJing truck behind the camera.

To follow up on this, I emailed Gateshead Council, and they have confirmed that the marking has been painted in error. There is planned maintenance in the area shortly, and it will be removed.

The pedestrian crossing light is odd too! On one side of the road only? Does that show green for pedestrians (going in one direction only!!!) when all the roads have "Stop" showing?

????confused????

No. They are there on both side of the crossing - the ones on the left are camoflaged by the black Audi/houses behind... but, yes, presumably pedestrians crossing here will get a 'green man' indication to cross when the three converging sets of traffic lights show 'red' and all traffic is stopped.
