You really are struggling to keep up, richie349 - it was Martin that suggested your earlier comments were unkind, and I completely agreed. Just because certain groups of people haven't broken the land speed record doesn't mean their attempts, however serious or not, weren't or aren't valiant efforts.

So when horse mentioned this in light of your subsequent comments you go whining to Martin? Hmm ...

Horse didn't mention this though. He accused Rich of being "ill informed" because, in fact, NAE had done some test runs and put a female driver in for at least one of them. It seemed clear to me that Rich was referring to attempts to break the land speed record and not preparations for the same. Horse's criticism was misplaced and appeared to be a desperate attempt to criticise.

I would say he suggested richie349 may be ill informed rather than accused him of being so - there being many possible shades of grey when interpreting written comment.

In my mind suggesting that someone might not have a full grasp of a situation, in the manner put forward by horse, seems a fairly mild comment and I was surprised that richie349 interpreted it as an attempt to drive him away from this forum.

It's just a bit of fun. It's simply the online equivalent of a group of mates down the pub. The only difference is, it's not always easy to convey the spirit of a conversation in the same way as you can when face to face, so offense is often taken when none is meant. If people were to bear this in mind, I'm sure we'd all get along much better... no offence.
