You're passing a row of parked cars. An indicator flashes. Are they pulling out? No the driver has just locked or unlocked his car from ten yards away ...

This happens to me sometimes at busy bus stops. There's a bus in front of another bus with its hazards on, but obviously it looks like they want to pull out.

So, you see what looks like it could be a signal, you take it into consideration. It turns out not to be a signal, you then get on with your life.

Hazards can be useful do warn other road users but, all too often, motorists believe turning them on gives them carte blanche to park anywhere they like - usually where they shouldn't...
