Horses and 'No Entry'

Or, in other words, what types of road users do 'No Entry' signs apply to? (I spotted cyclists are allowed to here)

According to page 17 of know your road signs no entry applies to any vehicular traffic and the defintion of a vehicle occording to the app on my phone is "a conveyance that transports people or objects. So yes I would say no entry signs apply to horses as well as cyclists.

The exception is I think because it was being used as a rat-run to cut a corner off between 2 main roads. the right turn goes down a narrow lane - I guess the thinking is cyclists aren't much of a nuisance and it also keeps them safer and away from the busy main roads.

I'm not sure which would be worse...riding down a main road or down a one way road in to the path of oncoming drivers not expecting to see them there.

The term 'motor vehicle' is defined in section 185(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and section 136(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as "a mechanically propelled vehicle, intended or adapted for use on roads".
2. Vehicle.
A wheeled conveyance adapted or intended for the carriage of goods or people.
Neither of which applies to a horse ( unless it is pulling a cart ).
