Are we all going a bit vigilante..?

Despite the Brits being good drivers compared to other drivers around the world, we are generally rather an uptight nation of drivers. In UAE it's fine to learn on the horn at someone taking too long to park. Do that in this country and you would hugely offend someone to say the least.
Thats not the issue, my main issue are these in-car cameras. Whilst I can see them being of use, and significant use for HGV's etc I do think it's all going a little bit vigilante with everyone appearing to have a bloody camera stuck in the rear window....
Whatever happened to the good old days when people would just enjoy driving without having to show a warning that they are on camera...
