Drive an Elise and leave depressed!

I was lucky enough to borrow a Lotus Elise 111S over the weekend and although I found it to be an awesome and capable car, it did bring home the fact there are just so few places on the road you can use the performance.
Acceleration was impressive (claimed 0-60: 5.3 secs) but I felt increasingly frustrated as the drive went on. It did show it's worth in opening up some overtaking opportunities that my old Focus just wouldn't have entertained but I came away rather depressed and asking myself: what's the point of a high-performance car on the road with ever more pressure to slow everyone down?
