Driving Abroad

Could anyone let me know what is required to drive in Australia, and New Zealand.

Do we need more than our normal full UK licence.

International Driving Permits are recommended for Australia - avoids confusion - and (as far as I can tell) compulsory for New Zealand ... valid for 12 months and can be applied for up to 3 months in advance.

(NB: over 18 and full license holders only)
