This mirror is superb for watching the driver.....his/her eyes, hand movements, foot movements etc...

perfect for instructors/examiners...etc..

I have one...and can highly recommend them..

I have always wondered whether observers in other areas bring along a mirror to use on the passenger side.

Hello Kev.

I've got the same title as you, PR officer and observer, but for the Worcester group.

I take a mirror, I don't know an observer that doesn't.

I don't carry one routinely. Nor do any of the observers who trained me either to drive or observe. Occasionally, I'll use one if I know I'm going to be doing lots of commentary from the passenger seat but not otherwise.

I started with one, but I broke it

I seem able to see quite a bit from the nearside mirror

Sir James (Allport) didn't have to carry one when he observed me.
I already had one in my car.

My instructor left it behind and never bothered to pick it up, so it's MINE, ALL MINE!

Also, even worse I keep it in my car at all times! Image

Strange you know when I am a passenger in someone else's car (which isn't often as I always offer to drive :) ) I feel decidely insecure with no interior mirror and not being able to see what's happening behind.

..Worrying...

After reading this topic I might get an additional mirror to take out with associates.

Safety1st - is the mirror you refer to a suction cup?

HIya Kev,

Yeah the additional one IS a suction one..

However, I recently used a different mirror that wasn't so rounded/wide angle and found it better to monitor the driver's eyes...as the image is larger..

The round wide angle one I use, captures the whole of the driver...but isn't too good at looking at the eyes...

I'd definately advice an instructor/observer etc..to use two mirrors..

One for rearward view and one to look at the driver...
