I am sixteen and wanting to apply for my provisional license.

I can apply for the moped provisional but is this the same as the provisonal driving license?

If this is true, does that mean that I can obtain my provisional driving license 6 months before my birthday?

Can I take my theory test before I turn 17 because I have a provisonal driving license?

Can I learn to drive at the age of sixteen because I hold a provisonal driving license?

Thanks!

Hi Joshua,
The moped licence is different - you can't drive a car on a provisional moped licence - the min. age for cars is 17. Not sure about the theory test though - anyone else know?

You can only sit the theory on your 17th birthday and apply 3 months before!

"As you are under 17 and are not receiving disability allowance, you will only receive a provisional moped licence."

Can this provisonal moped license be used to act as a provisional driving license?

The only change to this would be if you received DLA and had a cat B provisional at 16

I seem to remember you can get the provisional category B (car) entitlement shown on the license but it won't take effect until your 17th birthday.

Thats what I thought it will show the cat b but it has a list of the dates on the beack on which they are entitled to on the back.

So I says you get your provional and it good for mopeds and cars from yr 17th bday.

Joshua92, I have a question.

In a few years, the school leaving age will be 17.

Do you think it would be a good idea to start some sort of driver education such as theory and discussion groups on the subject at age 15 - in other words, make it part of the school programme like maths and english is now :?:
