Weds you say? Good.

I'm back at work then (off today and tomorrow) so won't be in Newbury ;)

Good luck :)

Oh, that seems to have come round quickly.

Anyhow, I wish you all the best. :)

When you pass, please remember NOT to drive your parents' car until you have informed the insurance company of your success. They'll probably want more money.

No, I'm fully aware of the insurance limitation there :)

And anyway, if it's possible, I'd rather avoid driving anything for a day or so after the test, because I'm going to be on a high or a low, depending which way the test went, which means I won't be in a suitable frame of mind for driving.

Serious point: you're most at risk in your first 1000 miles of solo driving.

Following on from Horses' post.

Besides your inexperience, one of the biggest problems for younger drivers is distraction. When you take the car out for the first time on your own, just drive around the quieter local roads to get used to being on your own, and avoid taking your mates out until you're more comfortable driving on your own.

Peer pressure can be a terrible thing for all drivers, let alone young & novice.

Tough as it will be, use your best acting skills and keep your sensible head on ;)

Don't worry about peer pressure.

I'm a bit of a Billy No-Mates, so unlikely to need to worry about "friends" egging me on while driving.

I doubt I'm going to take the car out by myself immediately afterwards, it's probably more likely I'll just continue what I'm doing now, and drive around with parents in the car, and maybe we'll just slowly introduce me into solo driving by doing it in stages, so parent in front seat beside me, then back nearside, then rear offside where I can't see them (so can more easily forget they're there) then eventually might do short journeys by myself, and so on.

Very well done. Are you planning on doing Pass Plus or perhaps a lesson or 2 with an ADI on motorways? How about rural roads?
