C1 required - but GF rights

I'm wondering about a big career change, to one where a C1 is required.

However, as a trainee fossil I have grandfather rights via my pre-97 licence.

So . . . What would I gain from taking some training anyway?

Periodic Driver cpc might not be required ..... initial dcpc will deffo not be needed and the system would not allow a driver with a pre 1997 C1 to do it anyway

What career? - if NHS then no dcpc needed

Is the C1 vehicle a large van or a lorry ?

Yes, NHS, as an ECA - emergency care assistant.

And the vehicles would be, presumably, either minibuses or 'luton' vans :)

NHS vehicles in the C1 range are not much bigger than those in the 3.5 tonne range so if you can drive a largeish van now then you will have no problems

NHS are driver cpc exempt

Minibuses with more than 9 total seats are D1 vehicles and it depends on exactly what the job is doing as to whether you will need to do a PCV test
