Hi everyone, I've just found this forum.
I've been a keen driver since the age of 17 and I'm now 54. I served 30 years with the Police with more than 20 of those on Traffic. I've held a Police grade 1 for most of those years and also the VIP and cat A escort certificates.
I have been an examiner for Rospa for quite a few years and have demonstrated off road and other vehicles for Vauxhall.
I still make regular visits to the Nurburgring circuit where I used to take my Sierra Cosworth and various BMW's but I no longer drive on there because of insurance issues.
I currently own 3 Volvos. I look forward to being active on the forum and possibly meeting some of you in the future.

Don't worry, we won't hold it against you.

Ahem, welcome! Fancy the Dorchester ADUK driving day coming up soon? It's probably the closest for the moment.

Sorry - yes - I should have posted a link...all the members driving days are here. The 'Wiltshire/Dorset' day (based at Dorchester) was the one I was thinking of.

Welcome to the forum.

Given you worked on traffic in South Wales, do you happen to know Clive Jones?

And which Volvos do you own? Any T5s or Rs?

Hopefully see you at an ADUK day soon. If you can't make the Dorchester day there's one not far from you in the Brecon Beacons on May 11th.

Clive was the sergeant on the school for a lot of my time there. I've got two S60 2litre turbos and a C70 T5.

What exactly happens on the driving days? It would be nice to meet people and Brecon is just up the road.
Forget that, I've found it now.

I'd also like to correct the starting point for Dorset/Wiltshire day...it's Shaftesbury not Dorchester (I blame the wine I had with my Easter Sunday Roast).

Myself and a few others on here have used Clive for training ourselves - small world etc.

I sold my S60 T5 in September but it was a fantastic car, not without its flaws but a very competent all rounder and they can be hustled along quite nicely. My avatar photo (to the right) is of me taking mine round Castle Combe!

One of my S60's is the same colour. We used the T5 S60 with the Police until they ruined things with the D5. If I find a good T5 I will seriously consider buying it.
Did you use Clive with HPC or for his skid training?

Cosmos Blue IIRC. The T5 engine is great but not a fan of diesels myself so never considered the D5. I was lucky enough to be offered mine from another member of this forum but they're worth very little these days and a good one can be picked up for less than a tenth of what someone originally paid for it!

I used Clive for my HPC entry course.
