Good Morning from the north of Scotland,

I have been contemplating taking the IAM test as a starter to possibly continuing on to the IAM Masters (if I'm good enough...) and, maybe, the ROSPA test. I did start once before, but my work took me abroad and I didn't carry on with it.

So, I will be looking to join my local group shortly and take it from there.

Good for you. Keep us informed. Check out any Rospa and IAM groups within reach before you decide which to go with - the two organisations are similar enough that the choice should depend more on the particular group.
