Does anyone know what the waiting time is for an IAM test, i applied one month and one week ago and heared nothing but I chased last week.

To be honest im happy where I have got with the training i have recieved so I cant see much point in doing the test so my enthusiam to chase is low.

I can't remember my waiting time, but it was a while.

As for taking the test, I viewed it as a good excuse to try and hone my skills to perfection. If you pass, it also allows access to the insurance deal (which may or may not be good for you) and further opportunities such as becoming an observer.

Associate send off test booking form to IAM HQ - HQ contact nearest examiner to the place associate chose on the form - examiner calls associate to arrange test
That usually takes less than 3 weeks from posting form to receiving call from examiner but holidays etc can delay things

... thats impressive. Seem to remember mine being around the 3 week mark by the time I agreed a test date with the examiner. I was contacted by the examiner around 2 weeks after posting form.

From memory you get confirmation from the IAM that your details have been passed to the examiner within 3 weeks. if not you should follow up.

How long it takes to hear from the examiner varies based on their workload (or holidays), your local group will be able to advice.

My IAM test was fine but I remember that my first RoADAR test I did not hear after 2 months - and my local group chairman protested to HQ about the situation - as multi-month waits seemed to them to be becoming the norm in our area at the time.

I suspect another name for that is 'exam nerves'. But stick with it. You never reach the end of improving your driving, and the examiners comments can form the basis of your next big step forward.

Excellent - very well done. :D

(Did Andy Poulton's assistance in getting a test booked resolve the delays?)

Hi Fraser.

Congratulations on passing your Advanced Test.

I am glad to have helped the allocation.
Your test in 'Druth'! was conducted by my best and most experienced Examiner I support in the South West so I know you were well and truly tested.

I will be visiting him next week.

 [There you could have waited and I could have sat in the back. No pressure then  ]

Cheers Andy
