Possibly, I always associate Acceleration Sense with accelerating and coming off the gas to match your speed with the one in front. Braking is braking, in order to negotiate a hazard, until it is safe to accelerate away from it, hence. Position, Speed, Gear.

Yes indeed young* man, quite right - in most circumstances.

What I was describing was not slowing. It was maintaining slow and steady progress towards an obstruction.
