What to do with an AD qualification?

Discussion on Advanced and Defensive Driving.

I have been considering for a while what doors are opened by holding an AD qualification and struggle to think of any. For Advanced Motorcyclists there appear to be many (voluntary) activities such as Blood Bikes, National Escort Group, etc - indeed a recent article in the IAM mag said that some biker bloke had 6 high-vis vests to choose from depending on what he was doing that day! So my question is: what, if any, activities are exclusively available to those holding an AD qualification?

Observer or Tutor for IAM or ROSPA respectively!

I believe you had to be AD trained to be a volunteer driver for London 2012.

Apart from that...errr...

If you are an ADI as well then you can apply to do the National Driver Improvement courses...

A recent associate in our group is a physician, and had volunteered to do some work with the local ambulance service. He was required to take an advanced driving test before the ambulance service would train him as a response driver.

This is an interesting point, but I have wondered whether you would get better job prospects in the Transport industry if you have an AD qualification in posts where such a qualification is not a requirement and other candidates don't have and it would be an advantage to you.

Certainly if your asked to do an assessment drive then this clearly would benefit.
