And that's the game I guess...taking everything into account what position/speed/gear do I need to be in? Easy to say...hard to do well, consistently.

I've just be reading about 'black swans' and 'perfect storms'. The gist was that there are few of the former (totally unpredictable events) and events are mainly the latter (what my USAF buddies called a 'clusterf___').

So the challenging question inevitably follows: "How can we predict everything?" Well, simply, we can't, so we need to maintain safety margins.

However, don't rely on my interpretation!
