HPC insurer

Discussion on Advanced and Defensive Driving.

Hi,

I'm planning on having a bash at HPC later this year. I recall that they have a specific insurer which offers a special deal to club members. Who is the insurer? Are the benefits much above what Surety would offer? I've always just gone for Money Supermarket cheapest but as I've now got IAM and RoSPA under my belt I am looking for a better deal.

I'm hoping they can offer me a competitive quote and upgrade me if I manage to fulfill the criteria later in the year.

Thanks

Rick.

They have a specific insurer because they have a specific requirement, which is to provide comprehensive cover for members to drive each others' cars. For that reason, the policy has the normal range of facilities, plus one additional clause providing cover for other club members to drive the vehicle, subject to an age restriction. The policy tends to cost rather more than a standard High Street policy, but provides the convenience of sharing cars between drivers on events. To anyone other than a member, it is of no interest whatsoever.

To be clear, it is not a special deal in monetary terms, only in specialist cover.

Some members manage with a standard policy and add named drivers either through their normal provider or via specialist short-term insurers. Others use more exotic "high net worth" policies, which cover any driver (not just HPC members) to drive their cars. In all cases there is an additional cost over a "normal" policy with just insured and spouse, or close family.

Closing this topic here since it is a specific question and not an issue for debate.
