The 'Up & Down' Handbrake

Highways Agency Traffic Officer.

They patrol the motorways with some powers to deal with motorists & close lanes etc, but mainly they help stranded motorists & Police at collisions etc.

There'll be plenty...

In my county at the moment...there aren't any...and us traffic cops manage to cope.....

So any more assistance will be nice, but not essential...

Not in the current role, no.

There is too much emphasis placed on Fatal Collision Investigation....that many traffic (Road policing) departments are simply investigation teams...waiting for another fatal....

More emphasis needs to be placed on pro-actively dealing with criminal use of motor vehicles and less reliance on cameras.

At present time, more traffic cops would only mean a bigger fatal investigation team.
