IAM Motorcycle Test this Sunday

You may remember me posting as a new Associate on week 2 of my Observed Runs, back in September last year. I'm now awaiting my test on Sunday, having reached the stage where I was ready to put my form in, and heard back this week.

I should be ok if I keep on top of the nerves, and try to enjoy it!

I'll let you know how I get on.

A.

Good luck Alistair.

I've done IAM cars and I own a motorbike so I should really take the bike test as well....

I did ok, and got the wee card certifying that I will be recommended for membership of the IAM.

Points to work on were familiar from feedback from my Observed runs, overtaking opportunity and timing to work on. And apexing / straightlining series of bends to be worked on.

The latter I'd really like to crack, as it means a lot to stability etc.

As Dougie the examiner said, this is end of the apprenticeship, now to use the tools and do a really good job, and gave a few of the options to progress onwards.

Regards

A.

Well done Alistair :D

3 jobs now:

1) continue to improve (sounds like you're more than open to this)
2) give something back to your group (volunteer for something...anything!)
3) spread the word amongst your biking friends and get at least 1 to sign up!

...but most of all...well done and you are officially entitled to feel just a little smug.

Congratulations.

My observer told me on Saturday to put in for my car test so in a few weeks I shall be experiencing those same nerves.

Hello Alastair,

We've never met but I see you're only along the road from me. Well done with the IAM result and I can only reiterate what others have said. The most important thing is to go out now and enjoy using the new skills and encourage others, where they show an interest, to do the same!

All the very best,

Spud.
