Can you recommend any good quality DVDs on motorcycle riding technique similar to, for example, the Chris Gilbert DVDs on advanced driving?

I bought the Mike Waite DVD a whilte ago - it's OK although the quality isn't great by today's standards and it comes with a warning stating that not play on modern DVD players, only on a PC. It contains much good content although there are some bits which in humble opinion should have ended up on the cuting room floor. This includes footage which didn't appear to match the commentary added afterwards, or where the manouvre didn't appear to be safe as it might have been when watched back.

Mike also has a habbit of always checking his mirror prior to committing to the exit on a roundabout and never once mentions or suggests that it might be worthwhile 'considering' a lifesaver.

The Highways Agency have also made a couple of good bike training DVD's entitled 'Great Roads Great Rides' and 'Great Roads Great Rides 2'. I think you can view them on YouTube too, albeit in sections.

If anyone knows of any o ther good training DVD's, I too would be interested to know more.

Several of those mentioned have good bits, and - unfortunately - they also have dire bits too.

DSA post-test
Wasted opportunity, to use the educational phrase. Poor quality, and some weird ideas put forward, eg the way to solve running wide in a corner is . . . not to do it in the first place. Well, yeah, durrr . . .

DSA 'What if'
Don't know if the old video is available as a DVD but it is actually quite good at hazard perception etc. Not 'advanced' though.

Let down in so many ways . . . The bit I found most useful was on 'presenting' to other roadusers, a term I'd not heard before but leads to a way of thinking, which I like.
But . . . for a video (which is how it originated, hence why not running on DVD players, I guess) which concentrates on using the vanishing point, why the hell did he leave in the bit where he misread a bend
Plenty of other howlers; I saw it with a room full (over 100) IAM members, and there was a massive collective sharp intake of breath at one overtake. Lots of 'swoopng' overtakes rather than out, check, go.

Taming the Beast
Again, a video. The maker, sadly, has gone to meet his, I don't know who holds the (C) and whether anything will ever be see again of it (and his book).

Some good stuff, although the phrase "a commentary is a good idea" is then followed by 30s of silence

Made, I believe, by the GRGR team. Not seen it.

Top Rider
Made in the early '90s by Kent IAM, basic - but good hazard perception sequence.

Twist of the Wrist (& TWOTW2)
Very much aimed at track riding - as are the books - but elements can be adapted for road riding. First is old (again, originally a video), try to accept the'humour'. Not seen 2.

There have been varous shorter videos done, particularly in conjunction with the various Bikesafe type schemes.
