Site Update

Suggestions for site improvements. Forum and Advanced Driving UK announcements such as events, changes to the system and general information people should know about.

I have been working on a new layout for the site making it a much more information oriented interface with a system that allows pretty much anyone to add content easily. This site, quite soon will be removed in favour of the new layout which also uses a CMS to syndicate content in a blog type interface.

The new software has also been reasonably straight forward to integrate alot of the custom code written for this site. So the process hasn't been too arduous so far. It should also mean that the upgrade to PHP5 should be much smoother.

I have yet to decide whether the members only area will stay in it's current form or whether it will be an extension of the forum system. The former may take an awful lot of coding (and time I dont have at the moment).

There will be stages of upgrade, unfortunately as I dont have 2 identical servers I can't write it all, then transfer it. So there will be a migration process but hopefully it shouldn't be too disconcerting for our users, and may well pull in more.

OK, as you will have seen. The forum has changed and the main site has changed (quite alot).

I'm in the process of adding all the previous content and there are a few things to do but generally, its not far off.

Your welcome to post feedback and additions here, hope you find it easier to navigate your way around.

Yep.....

Thats a combination of some seriously optimised coding and the server move to the UK.

Totally confused me when I logged on just now. I like it. :D

This is so much better and yes, much more 'familiar'.

Incidentally Darren when I typed in 'reply' a 'subject' box comes up too? :?

I always thought it was strange that you couldn't go back and insert a smileyat the place you want it..it always goes on the end then you have to c & p it to where you want it if it's not done as you go. (Go on tell me I am doing something radically wrong)

Anyway hardly important. As I said looks great.

my page is at its normal 100% but your site does not fit in it as it did before - i have to move the page to the right to see the last word on each line of each post.

I have raised this with Darren - seems across the board we are all getting some extra horizontal play...
