Announcing a day of driving to be based at or near Shepton Mallet, Somerset, on Saturday 23 July 2011.

The day will be organised in the familiar AD-UK fashion. We'll meet at 9 o'clock in the morning for a 9.30 start. This will allow time for routes to be completed twice before lunch, and then we'll do the same again in the afternoon. There will be somewhere nearby to buy refreshments during the day, and at lunchtime we'll have a table booked at a local pub.

The driving should be finished by about 5 o'clock, but the very committed may continue the fun into the evening if they wish.

If you haven't been to one of these days before, you can reasonably expect to meet a bunch of people who are enthusiastic about driving, of widely varying experience, but who all want to improve. There might be one or two who are unsure what advanced driving is all about and want to find out more. People have differing views about various aspects of driving, and this will probably make discussion lively and interesting.

The format is that each person drives their own car around one of the pre-set routes, with one or two others sitting in to navigate and discuss aspects of the drive as they come up. The plan is that this takes place in a friendly atmosphere, so that we all have a good time and end up wanting to do it again. Ideally everyone learns some more about driving as well.

There will be a number of suggested routes available but they are only for guidance - it's not problem if you find other interesting roads.

All AD-UK members are welcome. If you have a friend who is interested in advanced driving, you can bring them along as well. If they are very nervous about taking part, they could come as a non-driving guest and sit in while other people drive.

If you'd like to attend, please add your name to this thread in the Members-only Driver Network forum.

Everyone is welcome, but it's not a public event so you'll need to log in to participate. If you're not already a member of AD-UK, you can sign up here for free.

Hope to see you there :)
