Forum RSS feed page is giving a 404 not found error

Suggestions for site improvements. Forum and Advanced Driving UK announcements such as events, changes to the system and general information people should know about.

Hi

When I try to access the Forum RSS feed:
http://www.advanced-driving.co.uk/feeds ... s-feed.php

This URL is usually embedded into the page I use as my home page in a browser.

The main rss feed page is also giving the same error:
http://www.advanced-driving.co.uk/feeds ... s-feed.php

I am getting a Html error 404 Page not found error. It has been like this for about a week.

Have the feeds been removed or are you not aware of this? Hope the latter.

Thanks Anita.

I've passed your observation onto our IT dept. for resolution. I am sorry you are dissatisfied and I would like to apologise for our service failing short of what we would expect.

Your call is important to us.

I would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Ahem...the site owner Darren is the one to resolve this...I've given him a nudge.

Thanks Martin.

That was sounding a bit formal - until the last line anyway :)

Hi all

There was an issue with the RSS feeds for some reason they where creating log files in excess of 50GB on the server and causing the server to crash over night, I had to disable them until I can figure out what the problem is.

On a faintly related note, does anyone get emails from this site any more?

I used to get PM notifications and such, but now apparently nothing, although it may be at my end.

Thanks Darren, just wanted to make you aware in case you weren't already. You can't fix something that you don't know is broken.

I didn't know there was an RSS feed

I've gotten emails fairly recently...

I've never worked out what to do with an RSS feed! From what I understand you need a special "reader" app, which to me seems a bit of a waste of time when I can just open a browser now and again and click "view active topics". Presumably I'd need my reader open all the time hoping to catch new stuff?

What am I missing?

It means you can have an app periodically check it for you, and aggregate all your feeds into one place, so you don't have to browse from forum to blog to news site etc looking to see what's new. I personally don't bother.
