And yet the DSA have agreed with the definition of advanced driving and during their test seem to agree that safety, good observation and forward planning, good progress for the conditions, being in a good position on the road, being in a good gear, and driving at an appropriate speed are all important?! Maybe the definition in your mind does not tie in with the actual definition?
